Are there any QWK-style mastodon/fediverse apps where you connect to the server only to download your home feed for offline reading and prepare a reply packet to upload your own toots when you connect the next time?
Use case would be to not miss anything you're following and to not need to be constantly scrolling the feed.
And this is obviously different than RSS, no need to mention that.
(This will be the first of a series of microfictions using “It was DNS” as the punchline. Bermuda Triangle? It was DNS. Missing mass in the Universe? It was DNS. Who shot JFK? It was DNS. Printer offline? Not DNS, you have to remember to close the cover fully.)
It saddens me a bit though that browsers have to go to heroic efforts to improve things like input responsiveness. Usually there are things the web developer can do to help, but they rarely bother.
For instance: debounce your input handlers! The typing indicator on Pinafore shows how close you are to the 500 character limit, but it doesn't check for every character you type. It checks lazily with requestIdleCallback, which keeps responsiveness smooth even if you type fast on a slow machine.

Interesting low-level details about input handling and rendering. I always found these parts of the browser engine to be the most mysterious to me.
